- The Lead: Assumption trailed Southern Connecticut 4-2 midway through the first half, but finished the period on a 7-1 run and never let the Owls get closer than two over the final 30 minutes as the Hounds earned the 15-11 road victory on Wednesday.


- SCSU grabbed a 2-0 lead in the opening three minutes. Sarah Reilly (Fairfield, Conn. / Fairfield-Warde) put Assumption on the board at 25:05 and tied it up with 20:11 left in the period. The Owl defense held strong over the next nine minutes and added two more tallies for a 4-2 lead.

- Reilly cut the deficit in half at 11:06 and Meghan Cushing (Gorham, Maine / Gorham) tied it up with 10:33 remaining. Reilly scored two minutes later and Helen Tautkus (Laconia, N.H. / Laconia) pushed the lead to 6-4 at 7:25. Jill Good (North Andover, Mass. / North Andover) came through with consecutive goals over a two-minute span before SCSU finally ended the 6-0 run with a goal at 2:19. Reilly scored with two seconds left in the half for a 9-5 lead.

- Olivia Angelo (Miller Place, N.Y. / Miller Place) extended it to 10-5 just one minute into the second and Reilly made it 11-5 at 26:34. The Owls kept the contest close with four goals over the next 15 minutes, closing the gap to just 11-9 with 11:20 left in regulation. Kailyn Hart (Cohoes, N.Y. / Shaker) stopped the run with her goal at 9:08 and then added another two minutes later for a 13-9 edge. The Hounds received goals from Tautkus and Angelo in the final 6:30 while the Owls also scored twice for the 15-11 final.


- Assumption outshot the Owls 37-24 in the contest and picked up 20 more ground balls (28-8). SCSU won more draw controls (18-8), but the Hounds had 12 caused turnovers to five for the Owls.

- Reilly tallied six goals with one assist and three draw controls while Angelo had two goals and one assist. Emily Spath (Franklin, Mass. / Franklin) dished off four assists while Tautkus had three points on two goals and one assist.

- Defensively, Marran Oakman (Kennebunk, Maine / Kennebunk) had four ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers, while Haley Rose (Wading River, N.Y. / Shoreham Wading River) added three ground balls and three caused turnovers. In net, Allie Collins (Natick, Mass. / Natick) made eight saves while allowing 11 goals to secure the win. Laura Morton took the loss but stopped 13 shots with 15 goals allowed.

- Reilly's seven points on the day push her career total to 257, tying Amy McNeil (202g, 55a) who set the program all-time scoring record in 2015. The senior has 177 goals and a school-record 80 assists in her career.


- Assumption concludes its regular season on Saturday and looks to earn a top-four seed in the NE10 Tournament when the Hounds host No. 21 Merrimack at 2 p.m.
