Men's Track & Field in Third Place Following Day One of NE10 Championships

THE BASICS

-Meet: Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships

-Location: Reggie Lewis Center (Boston, Mass.)

-The Lead: The Assumption College men's indoor track & field team sits in third place after day one of the NE10 Indoor Track & Field Championships. Southern Connecticut State is in first with 90 points followed by AIC (31), Assumption (28), New Haven (26), Stonehill (24), Adelphi (15), Franklin Pierce (15), Le Moyne (4), and Saint Rose (1).

HOW IT HAPPENED

-Freshman Anthony Spignese (Danvers, Mass. / Danvers) earned first place in the 60-Meter Dash with a qualifying time of 6.90 to advance to the finals on Friday. He also earned first place in the 200-Meter Dash with a time of 21.84 to advance to the finals.

-First year Claudio Rocha (Peabody, Mass. / Peabody Veterans Memorial) took home fifth place in the 5000-Meter Run with a time of 15:17.21.

-Senior Kevin Hack (Uxbridge, Mass. / Nipmuc Regional) finished the 60-Meter Hurdles in a qualifying time of 8.60 seconds for second place, and will advance to the finals round on Friday.

-Senior William Mardo (Cumberland, R.I. / Cumberland), sophomore Nik Reygadas (Warwick, R.I. / Toll Gate), junior George Dixon IV (East Bridgewater, Mass. / East Bridgewater), and junior Brendan Carter (North Reading, Mass. / North Reading) teamed up in the Distance Medley Relay and took home fourth place overall with a time of 10:23.74.

-Hack earned first place in the High Jump with a 2.11-meter mark. Junior Cameron Donoghue (Yarmouth Port, Mass. / Barnstable) came in third place with a 1.91-meter mark.

-Donoghue earned third place in the Heptathlon with 2692 points. Junior Derek Girouard (Chicopee, Mass. / Chicopee) followed him in fourth place with a score of 2676. Sophomore Joseph Jepsen (Sutton, Mass. / Sutton) finished in sixth place with a score of 2439. 

-Assumption is currently in third place with 28 points. AIC is in second place with 31 points and Southern Connecticut sits in first place with 90 points.
