-The Lead: In a battle of the top two teams within the Northeast-10 Conference, the Assumption Greyhounds and Saint Anselm Hawks played to a 3-3 tie on Tuesday night at the Tri-town Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
-The two teams played as even as possible with no team taking more than a one-goal lead. The Hounds took the first lead of the game at the 4:24 mark of the first period on a rocket shot by Robert Holyoke (Middleboro, Mass. / South Shore Kings (USPHL Premier)) while on the power play.
-Holyoke's goal stood all the way until the second period when Saint Anselm tallied back-to-back goals from Anthony Iacullo and John Femia to take a 2-1 lead. Assumption scored less than a minute later, at the 13:11 mark, tying the game at two. The Hawks ended the second up 3-2 after scoring once on the power play at the 15:06 mark. Dante Maribito (Georgetown, Mass. / Phillips Academy (Prep)) scored the game-tying goal at the 5:21 mark of the third period.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
-Saint Anselm outshot the Hounds 41-33. Assumption went 1-for-5 while on the power play and the Hawks went 1-for-3.
-Holyoke's goal give him nine on the year and 10 points in his last seven games.
-Colin Montgomery (Natick, Mass. / Valley Junior Warriors (EHL)) led the Hounds with two points, tallying one goal and one assist. His goal was his second of his collegiate career and Montgomery has now scored in each of his last two games.
-David Zulauf (Rochester, Mich. / Bridgton Academy (Prep)) made 38 saves on 41 shots and moved to 3-4-1 on the year. Nick Howard made 30 saves on 33 shots for Saint Anselm.
-Assumption hosts Post in the first of a weekend series beginning on Friday, January 31, at 5:30 p.m.
