Men's Cross Country Finishes in Sixth at NE10 Championship

THE BASICS

-Results: 6th/14

-Location: Jamesville, N.Y. (Jamesville Beach Park)

-The Lead: The Assumption College men's cross country team placed sixth overall at the Northeast-10 Championships on Sunday afternoon. First year Claudio Rocha (Peabody, Mass. / Peabody Veterans Memorial) led the way for the Hounds finishing in 18th place with a time of 28:00.3

HOW IT HAPPENED

-Rocha was the first Hound to cross the finish line followed closely by junior Shawn Scullion (Candiac, Que. / Heritage Regional) who placed 19th in a time of 28:06.4. Senior William Mardo (Cumberland, R.I. / Cumberland) rounded out the top three runners for Assumption with a time of 28:42.3 for 33rd place overall.

-American International took home the Championship with a team score of 39. Stonehill was the runner-up with a score of 79. Southern Connecticut took third place with 85 points, followed closely by Franklin Pierce who finished the day with 89 points. Southern New Hampshire finished in fifth place with a score of 96 while Assumption (145) took sixth. Le Moyne (208) fell behind the Hounds in seventh, followed by Bentley (233), Saint Anselm (294), Adelphi (320), New Haven (331), Saint Rose (332), Saint Michael's (389), and Pace (404).

UP NEXT

-The Hounds will compete at the NCAA East Regional Championships on Saturday, November 9th at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
