Men's Cross Country Places 10th at Nassaney Invitational

THE BASICS

-Results: 10th/11

-Location: Bryant University (Smithfield, R.I.)

-The Lead: The Assumption College men's cross country team finished 10th out of 11 teams, primarily Division I programs, in the Nassaney Invitational at Bryant University on Saturday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED

-Freshman Claudio Rocha (Peabody, Mass. / Peabody Veterans Memorial) paced the Hounds, finishing 43rd overall in a time of 26:40.8 (5:22/M). Junior Shawn Scullion (Candiac, Que. / Heritage Regional) placed 50th in a time of 25:50.3 (5:24/M) while senior William Mardo (Cumberland R.I. / Cumberland) trailed right behind him with a 51st place finish in 26:51.3 (5:24/M) to round out the top three for Assumption.

-Senior Ryan Cardozo (Westport, Mass. / Bishop Stang) was the fourth Hound to cross the finish line in a time of 27:17.1 (5:29/M) for 67th place overall while junior Jon Wahl (Chepachet, R.I. / Ponaganset) took the fifth spot in a time of 27:34.7 (5:33/M).

-As a team the Hounds finished the day with 254 points and 10th place. They finished above Rhode Island College who claimed 333 points. Fairfield finished in 9th place with 224 points, Stonehill finished in front of them with 222 points for eighth place. Northeastern University took first place with 24 points followed by Boston College (80) and Quinnipiac (87). Holy Cross, the University of Rhode Island and Bryant took 4th, 5th, and 6th place respectively.
