Women's Cross Country Takes Ninth Place at Nassaney Invitational

THE BASICS

-Results: 9th/10

-Location: Bryant University (Smithfield, R.I.)

-The Lead: The Assumption College women's cross country team finished 9th out of 10 teams, primarily Division I programs, in the Nassaney Invitational at Bryant University on Saturday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED

-Assumption was led by sophomore Grace Corbett (Merrimack, N.H. / Merrimack) who finished 38th overall in a time of 19:36.1 (6:18/M). Her classmate, Ashley Wargo (Southbury, Conn. / Pomperaug) crossed the finish line second for the Hounds with a time of 20:26.8 (6:34/M) for 75th place. First year Peri Snow (East Bridgewater, Mass. / East Bridgewater) finished just behind Wargo in 79th place with a time of 20:38.8 (6:38/M).

-Sophomore Liz Letizio (Westerly, R.I. / Westerly) was the fourth finisher for Assumption in a time of 20:57.3 (6:44/M) while senior Emily Norman (Chelmsford, Mass. / Chelmsford) rounded out the Hound's top five with a 21:37.4 (6:57/M) finish.

-Assumption finished the day with 257 points as a team for ninth place. Northeastern finished second overall with 47 points and Quinnipiac followed up in third place with 78 points.

-Assumption travels to the UMass Dartmouth Invitational in North Dartmouth, Mass. On Saturday, September 21st.
