Women's Cross Country Qualifies for Second NCAA National Championship

WORCESTER, Mass. –
The Assumption College women's cross country team, receiving votes in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II National Poll, will be competing in its second-consecutive NCAA Division II National Championship Saturday, November 18th in Evansville, Indiana. The women's race is set to start at 11:45 a.m. (EST).

In order to be eligible to participate in the championships, teams and individuals had to qualify in their respective NCAA regional competitions that were held this past weekend.

Thirty-two teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top three, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions, for a total of 24 teams. Eight additional teams were selected at-large. A minimum of 24 additional individuals were selected to participate in each championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process. The list of advancing teams and individuals is outlined below.

The Hounds are coming off of their first ever NCAA East Regional Championship and will be looking to build upon last season's 27th place finish at Nationals. In the history of the Assumption women's cross country program, previous to last year the Hounds had never qualified for the NCAA National Championships, they will now be making their second consecutive appearance as they try to build their brand on a national stage.
