Five Track & Field Athletes Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Selections

Worcester, Mass. – Assumption's Track and Field program recently had five players earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. The criteria for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors include having an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in either outdoor or indoor events as well as maintaining a 3.25 cumulative grade point average. The selections from the men's and women's teams were Max Michaud, Abigail Jones, Caroline Leonard, Kialeigh Marston and Sarah Miller.

Michaud was named USTFCCCA All-Region for the 800-meter run in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. He set a new school record in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:51.95 at the Boston University Last Chance Qualifier (2/24). The rising senior is majoring in management and has accumulated a 3.65 GPA thus far.

Jones earned NCAA Division II First-Team All-American Honors in the heptathlon where she placed sixth with a total of 5,070 points to set a new school record. She earned NCAA Division II Second-Team All-American Honors in the long jump where she placed ninth with a distance of 5.99 meters. Jones became the first student-athlete in Assumption history to earn two All-American honors at the same event. She qualified for this honor through high jump and pentathlon during indoor track and long jump, high jump and heptathlon during outdoor track. Jones recently graduated with a 3.61 GPA and a degree in human services and rehab studies.

Leonard named to the USTFCCCA All-Region Team for the javelin. She qualified with a throw of 42.43 meters at the Black and Gold Invitational (3/30). The rising senior currently has a 3.47 GPA and is majoring in human services and rehab studies.

Miller Earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors in the long jump. She won the NE10 Title in the long jump (5.81m) with a school-record jump in indoor track. The recently graduated senior had a 3.28 GPA and received her degree in organizational communications.

Marston earned NCAA Division II Second-Team All-America honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase when she placed 12th in a time of 11:42.17. She also earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as well. She qualified for the NCAA All-Academic selection with a time of 10:35.74 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase the rising senior has a 3.35 GPA and is double majoring in political science and classics.

Overall, the women's track and field had an average GPA of 3.35 while the men's program average GPA was a 3.08.
