WORCESTER, Mass. - After placing sixth in the heptathlon and earning First-Team All-America honors at the NCAA Championships in Kingsville, Texas, senior Abby Jones (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) has been recognized as NE10 Field Athlete of the Year as announced by the NE10 on Tuesday afternoon.

Jones' finish at the NCAA Championships is the highest finish ever by an Assumption track & field athlete at the national championships and is the second track and field athlete to earn First-Team All-America recognition. Her total of 5070 points in the heptathlon was her personal best score by 82 points. At the NE10 Championships, Jones earned 21 field points, winning the heptathlon while earning fourth place in the long jump and third in the high jump.

This is one of the many honors Jones' has earned this year. She was named the United States Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Region Field Athlete of the Year earlier this spring as well as being named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District I Team.
