WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior Abby Jones (Arlington, Mass. / Arlington) & junior Kialeigh Marston (Standish, Maine / Bonny Eagle) have officially been selected to compete in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Texas A&M Kingsville from May 23-25 in Pepsi Field at Javelina Stadium.

Jones will compete in both the long jump and the pentathlon, which marks her fourth time competing at the NCAA National Championships and second straight outdoor championships appearance. In 2018, Jones placed 12th overall in the heptathlon with a point total of 4,835 points. This year she will compete in the long jump at the NCAA Championships for the first time. She is seeded 10th in the long jump after a leap of 6.00 meters at Merrimack on April 18. Jones is seeded 14th in the heptathlon after her school-record total of 4,988 points last weekend at the NEICAAA Championships.

Marston is making her first appearance in the NCAA Track & Field Championships this year after her record-setting performance in the 3000 meter steeplechase last weekend. The junior broke her school-record by 11 seconds with a time of 10:35.74 to be seeded 13th in the event. Overall, Marston is making her four appearance in an NCAA Championship event, as she has raced in the Division II Cross Country National Championships each of the past three seasons.

This marks the fourth consecutive year Assumption has had at least one student-athlete compete at the NCAA Championships. Over that span, five different student-athletes have competed, with three earning USTFCCCA All-America honors. Jones is a two-time USTFCCCA All-American, including second team honors in the heptathlon last year.
