Women’s Track & Field Competes at SCSU

THE BASICS:

- Event: Northeast Combined Events Challenge

- Location: New Haven, Conn.

- The Lead: The Assumption women's track & field team started off strong in the heptathlon on the first day of the Northeast Combined Events Challenge hosted by Southern Connecticut State University.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Senior Abby Jones (Arlington, Mass. / Arlington) sits in third with a point total of 2810 following the first four events of the heptathlon. Sophomore Emma Santee (Westerly, R.I. / Westerly) sits in ninth with 2402 points while Olivia DeMonico (North Reading, Mass. / North Reading) is in 13th with 2295 points.

- Jones was fourth in the 100 meter hurdles with time of 15.48 seconds while Santee took seventh in 16:02 and DeMonico was 10th in 16.45 seconds. Jones then tied for second in the high jump with a height of 1.62 meters while DeMonico was 12th and Santee took 16th.

- In the shot put, Jones placed fourth overall with a distance of 9.84 meters, while Santee was seventh with a throw of 9.52 meters. DeMonico was 12th with her toss of 8.57 meters. Santee was fourth in the 200 meters while Jones was fifth as they finished in 26.43 and 26.51. DeMonico earned 10th in a time of 27.43 seconds.
