Worcester, Mass. (July 15) -- The Assumption College cross country/track and field programs have announced the incoming class for the 2016-2017 season. The Hounds, who set indoor and outdoor records in 51 events last season, will again be under the direction of fourth-year head coach Stacie Wentz.
Mansfield, Mass. (July 4) -- Four Assumption College student-athletes have been named to the 2016 Spring Northeast-10 Conference Academic All-Conference Teams, as selected by a panel of Northeast-10 Conference administrators.
Mansfield, Mass. (June 14) -- Assumption College track and field freshman Abby Jones (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) has been named as the 2016 Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Field Rookie of the Year for her performance during the 2016 season.
Providence, R.I. (June 10) -- Assumption College has finished sixth out of 15 institutions in the 2016 Northeast-10 Conference President’s Cup standings, which were announced on Monday night in Providence, R.I. at the league’s annual Awards Night ceremony at the Providence Hilton.
Worcester, Mass. (June 2) -- The Assumption College Department of Athletics has announced the 2016 Hall of Fame Class, which will be inducted on November 4, 2016. This year’s inductees include Sandy Norton `74 (ice hockey/football), Jeff Blanchard `81 (football), Caitlyn Clark `06 (cross country/track and field, Ralph DeLucia (softball coach) and Ryan Richert `03 (tennis).
At the 2016 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championship, sophomore Megan Perrin (Watertown, Conn./Watertown) placed 21st overall in the women’s javelin finals on Saturday afternoon at the IMG Academy Track and Field Complex. Perrin was in the second flight of the event as the championship was then interrupted with a lightning delay shortly after the javelin competition was completed.

(May 26) -- Assumption College junior Rachel Avard (Manchester, N.H./Manchester West) has been named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Track and Field and Cross Country Academic All-District Team, recognizing the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
New Orleans, La. (May 18) -- Six members of the Assumption College men’s and women’s track and field teams have earned United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honors for their performances during the 2016 outdoor season.
At the New England Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Friday and Saturday, the Assumption College women’s track and field team picked up seven school records, placed 18th overall and fifth among Division II schools as the Hounds posted 18 points over the two-day event. The 18 points marks the highest point total in program history at New England’s.
Worcester, Mass. (May 13) -- The Assumption College Department of Athletics recently held the First “Houndies” Student-Athlete Awards Night, honoring the top student-athletes and accomplishments from the 2015-2016 athletic season. The event was held in Laska Gym with nearly 700 student-athletes and special guests in attendance and featured women’s basketball head coach Kerry Phayre and football head coach Bob Chesney as emcees for the evening.

At Penn Relays and the Skyhawk Invitational, the Assumption College women’s track and field team set three more school records over the weekend. The Hounds set the 4x400 record at the Penn Relays and then finished fourth out of 11 teams at the Skyhawk Invitational with a total of 135 points as the Hounds defeated Division I opponents Holy Cross, Bryant, Boston University and Harvard.

Led by a record-setting javelin throw from sophomore Megan Perrin (Watertown, Conn./Watertown), the Assumption College women’s track and field team set four school records at the Sean Collier Invitational on Saturday at MIT. Perrin easily won the event with a toss of 150 feet, 8.25 inches, which is a school record by over eight feet and ranks her No. 10 in the nation in Division II.

(April 20) -- Women’s track and field sophomore Antonia Pagliuca (Peabody, Mass./Peabody Veteran’s Memorial) and men’s tennis junior Chris Waung (Bolton, Conn./East Catholic) have been named as the Assumption College Athletes of the Week for their performances in the week ending April 17th.
Led by six school records over the two-day Silfen Invitational, the Assumption College women’s track and field team finished second out of 21 teams with a total of 95 points in the meet hosted by Connecticut College in New London, Conn.

Worcester, Mass. (April 6) -- The Assumption College Department of Athletics has signed a three-year contract extension with Kangaroo Crossing as the department’s official Nike apparel and equipment supplier, as announced by Nick Smith, director of athletics.
On Saturday afternoon, junior Gwen Sawyer (North Yarmouth, Maine/Greely) smashed the record in the hammer throw by nearly eight feet as the Assumption College women’s track and field team powered to the overall title at the Jim Sheehan Memorial at Fitchburg State. The Hounds piled up 262 points on the day to win the event by a 148-point margin as the team was first out of 17 squads.
