Worcester, Mass. - Head women's tennis coach, Megan Pirez is excited to announce rising seniors Julia Chappell (Manchester, N.H. / Manchester Central) and Veronica Op (Westford, Mass. / Westford Academy) as the 2020-2021 women's tennis team captains.

Op went 1-3 in singles and 10-2 in doubles throughout the 2019-2020 season. "I am honored and beyond thankful to my teammates and coaches for believing in me as co-captain for this upcoming season.  As we may face many challenges and uncertainty this season, due to the pandemic, I am committed to help assist our team throughout these uncertain times," said Op. "I am so excited to work with my co-captain Julia, the coaches, and my teammates on setting and achieving our goals on and off the court. I cannot wait to go back out on the courts and give it my all and achieve hard set goals with my teammates. Go Hounds!"

Chappell finished the 2019-2020 season with an 8-3 record in singles play and 6-6 in doubles between the No. 1 and No. 2 spot.  Chappell was also recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as a Scholar-Athlete for her outstanding performance in the classroom throughout the 2019-2020 academic year. "Our team has a great energy at every practice and match, I could not be more excited to help lead such a hard-working and fun group," said Chappell. "I know all of us are itching to get back on the courts with our teammates and coaches, and although these are very challenging times I know it will bring us together and make us stronger as a team."
