-The Lead: The Assumption College women's tennis team fell to the Panthers of Adelphi University on the road on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Ana Ecudero (Rockville, Md. / Richard Montgomery) was a part of a doubles victory with junior Veronica Op (Westford, Mass. / Westford Academy) and earned herself a singles victory to lead the Hounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Op and Escudero earned Assumption's lone doubles victory. They outlasted the Adelphi duo of Lea Baschanow and Julia Kielan at No. 3 doubles, 6-4.
-Junior Valeria Sanchez (Carolina, P.R. / Colegio La Piedad) pushed her match-up with Adelphi senior Nicole Stay at No. 4 singles to three sets, but ultimately fell 6-3,3-6, 8-10. Escudero earned a victory at No. 5 singles for the Hounds. She defeated Baschanow, 6-3, 6-0.
-Junior Julia Chappell (Manchester, N.H. / Manchester Central) and senior Maria Monje (Worcester, Mass. / Holy Name) fell in a closely contest doubles match with Barbie Quagkiardi and Nicole Kielan, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Senior Camille Latoni (San Juan, P.R. / Academia Maria Reina) and Sanchez were edged at No. 2 doubles, 6-4.

-Assumption is back on the road on Monday, October 7th when they travel to Franklin Pierce for an NE10 match at 3:00 p.m.
