-The Lead: The Assumption College women's tennis team earned a Northeast-10 Conference victory in a match-up with the Saint Michael's College Purple Knights on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Hounds started the day with victories in all three doubles matches. Junior Julia Chappell (Manchester, N.H. / Manchester Central) and senior Maria Monje (Worcester, Mass. / Holy Name) paired up at No. 1 doubles to defeat Saint Michael's seniors Abby Ramsay and Caroline Sumner, 6-2. Senior Camille Latoni (San Juan, P.R. / Academia Maria Reina) and junior Valeria Sanchez (Carolina, P.R. Colegio La Piedad) earned Assumption a victory at No. 2 doubles, taking down sophomore Annie Serkes and first year Ava Albis, 6-2. Junior Veronica Op (Westford, Mass. / Westford Academy) and sophomore Ana Escudero (Rockville, Md. / Richard Montgomery) wrapped up doubles with a 6-1 final over Saint Michael's sophomores Abby Edelmann and Elly McKenna.
-Chappell outlasted Ramsay at No. 1 singles, taking the victory, 6-4 and 6-3. Monje dominated at No. 2 singles with set scores of 6-1 to defeat sophomore Brittany Katz.
-Serkes earned the Purple Knights' lone win of the day at No. 3 singles. She defeated Assumption freshman Aimee Figgins (Milford, Mass. / Hopedale Jr./Sr. High School), 7-5 and 6-3. Latoni and Sanchez both handled their opponents with set scores of 6-1 and Escudero shut out Edelmann at No. 6 singles.

-The Hounds hit the road on Tuesday, October 1st when the travel to Southern New Hampshire University for an NE10 match at 3:00 p.m.
