- The Lead: Assumption won its fourth straight match, this time a 6-1 victory over Saint Anselm on Saturday afternoon on the road.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Hounds opened the day with three convincing wins in doubles action. Julia Chappell (Manchester, N.H. / Manchester Central) and Maria Monje (Worcester, Mass. / Holy Name) secured a 6-0 shutout at No. 1 singles while the duo of Valeria Sanchez (Carolina, P.R. / Colegio La Piedad) and Veronica Op (Westford, Mass. / Westford Academy) also secured a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
- Freshman Ana Escudero (Rockville, Md. / Richard Montgomery) came through with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles, while Camille Latoni (San Juan, P.R. / Academia Maria Reina) secured a 6-0, 6-1 at fourth flight singles. Monje also impressed at No. 3 singles with a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Op won in straight sets at No. 6, while Chappell kept up her undefeated mark in singles with a 6-0, 6-4 win in the first flight.
