- The Lead: Assumption swept all three doubles matches and won five of six singles contests to secure its third striaght victory, 6-1 over Saint Michael's on Thursday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In doubles, the Hounds came away with convincing wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. The duo of Julia Chappell (Manchester, N.H. / Manchester Central) and Maria Monje (Worcester, Mass. / Holy Name) secured a 6-4 victory in the first flight, while Valeria Sanchez (Carolina, P.R. / Colegio La Piedad) and Ana Escudero (Rockville, Md. / Richard Montgomery) won 7-5. Assumption also took second doubles 7-5.
- In singles, Chappell kept her singles record perfect with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 1. Senior Paige Benoit (Holden, Mass. / St. Peter Marian Central Catholic) came through with a hard-fought 6-1, 2-6, 7-5 win at No. 2. Monje continued her strong recent play with a 6-2, 6-4 victory. At No. 6, Escuerdo had a 6-1, 6-1 win while Sanchez secured a straight-set 7-5, 6-3 victory.
