Williamson Adds Two to Women's Tennis Fall Roster

Worcester, Mass. (April 26) -- Head men's and women's tennis coach Adam Williamson will welcome two future Greyhounds to the women's tennis program this fall. Camille Latoni (San Juan, PR / Academia Maria Reina), and Maria Monje (Worcester, Mass. / Holy Name) have signed National Letters of Intent to attend Assumption College in 2016.

Camille Latoni (San Juan, PR / Academia Maria Reina)

Latoni comes to Assumption from San Juan, Puerto Rico where she attended Academia Maria Reina and played on the tennis team for five years. She was a co-captain for two years and competed in first and second singles for her team. In her 2012-13 season, she posted an 11-2 record and finished third in her league. In the 2013-14 season, she went 11-1 at No. 1 singles and was named the league Most Valuable Player. Her team was named league champions in her last two seasons and she was the finals champion in both years.

Why did she choose Assumption College?

"The experience of a student-athlete is one of the hardest things I will accomplish in my life,
the school needed to provide me the right balance of academics and still be able to play
tennis competitively. I wanted an environment that provided me the opportunity to develop
as a person; where I meant something. On my visit I took the campus tour, watched a tennis
practice and attended an away match. Also, I stayed overnight with a few of my future
teammates and went to a couple of classes. I actually felt the vibe and was sure I would be
coming in the Fall of 2016 to Assumption College."

Coach Williamson on Camille:

"Camille will bring to Assumption a wealth of tennis experience. She has the mental capacity to compete successfully during matches, as well as the physical ability to execute speed and power on the court."

Maria Monje (Worcester, Mass. / Holy Name)

Monje comes to Assumption College from Holy Name high school where she competed in first singles for the women's tennis team. She was named to several All-Star teams and she was also named a Worcester Telegram and Gazette All-Start since her seventh-grade season.

Why did she choose Assumption College?

"I chose Assumption for the warm atmosphere it gives off. Everyone is so welcoming and I have never felt more comfortable at a new campus."

Coach Williamson on Maria:

"I look forward to Maria joining our women's tennis team. Maria will be a great addition because she has the willingness and desire to excel in her tennis play, as well as the mental and physical ability to compete at a high level."

The new duo will undoubtedly make a significant impact on the 2016 women's tennis squad that is will graduate four seniors.
