WORCESTER, Mass. – Head Women's Soccer Coach Grace Barnard is excited to announce rising seniors Emma Mailman (Rutland, Mass., / Wachusett Regional), Alexis Nason (Saco, ME / Thornton Academy), and Victoria Stowell (Franklin, Mass., / Franklin) as the team's captains for the upcoming 2019 season.

"We have selected three incredible student-athletes in Emma, Alexis and Victoria to lead this team in the 2019 season. They communicate very well with our coaching staff and have all earned the trust of their peers", said Barnard. "They have been leaders in our program for several years and it has been enjoyable watching them grow into strong, positive leaders on and off the field. They have shown the ability to work well together and will complement each other's strengths. The program is in good hands with Emma, Alexis and Victoria as our captains!"

Mailman appeared in 11 games on defense for the Hounds during the season, starting seven of them.  She scored the game winning goal, her first collegiate career goal, in the game against Pace. When asked what it means to be elected as captain of the team, Mailman answered, "It was a big honor to be elected one of the three captains for this upcoming fall. I am thankful my teammates believe in my ability to lead.  I hope my personality allows people to feel comfortable on and off the field and they can see me as someone who is approachable and leads by example."

Nason started 19 games in goal during the season and posted a 10-7-2 record. She was named NE10 All-Conference Third Team while leading the NE10 in saves. "It means a lot to me to have been selected by my teammates and coaches to be a captain along with Vic and Emma. It shows that they have respect for us and believe that we can do a good job helping to lead our team in the upcoming season", said Nason when asked what it mean to her to be elected as a captain.  "I think that we had a great season last year and I want us to continue to maintain our success and push ourselves even further this year; it's all about putting in the full effort every day at practice and focusing on establishing strong team chemistry from the start of preseason."

Stowell started all 20 games for the Hounds in the midfield and was a co-captain for the 2018 season as well. She recorded two assists on the season and one of them being on the game winning goal against Pace. When asked what it means to be elected captain of the team, Stowell replied, "I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as the women's soccer team captain for a second year; I hope to lead by example both on and off the field for my teammates.  My philosophy and message I want the team to embrace this season is to take it one practice and game at a time."

Women's soccer opens the 2019 season against Bloomfield on September 5th at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
