Women's Soccer Routes Saint Michael's 2-0

THE BASICS:

-The Lead: Kallie Villemaire (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) scored two second-half goals as the Assumption Greyhounds defeated the Saint Michael's Purple Knights 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the Multi-Sport Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-At the 66:13 mark, Villemaire took possession of the ball from the defender. She then brought the ball out to center field, turned, and fired a shot into the top left corner to put the Hounds up 1-0.

-Villemaire scored again at the 86:17 mark. After teammate Sydney Huckabee (Akron, Ohio / Archbishop Hoban) sent a through ball to the left side, Villemaire took the ball and sent it into the bottom right corner of the net to put the Hounds up 2-0.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-Assumption held a 23-2 shot advantage, in which the Hounds outshot Saint Michael's, 10-0, in the first-half. Assumption also held a 9-1 edge in corner kicks, which included a 5-0 advantage in the first half.

-Villemaire has now scored in five out of seven games and leads the team with eight goals. She had seven shots throughout the contest.

-Katie Hammer (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Harborfields) made her first start this season and third of her collegiate career. She made one save and earned the shutout, improving to 1-0-0 on the year. Purple Knight's goalkeeper Liz Vallatini made nine saves but fell to 1-3-0 on the year.
