Rowing Competes in Dad Vail Regatta

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption women's rowing team competed at the Dad Vail Regatta last weekend in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, breaking the Varisty 8 school record in the process 

The Varsity 8 competed against four nationally ranked teams at the Dad Vail and in their first race on Friday, they put forth a time of 7:18.58, breaking a school record. No. 3, Florida Institute of Technology, won the heat with a time of 6:45.458. No. 5 Barry and No. 8 Mercyhurst took second and third respectively, while Nova Southeastern placed fourth beating Assumption with a time of 7:08.593. The following day they rowed a 7:22.350 in the second final.

"The girls raced well on Friday posting the fastest time of the season and then handled the conditions well on Saturday to finish out the season on a strong note, said head coach Aline Seekins. "This was a great building season for the team with many positives moving us in the right direction. Next year, I hope to see this team keep getting faster and closing the gap on the top Division II teams."
