Reilly, Cushing & Spath Earn IWLCA All-Region Honors

WORCESTER, Mass. – Following the best season in program history, Assumption women's lacrosse had a school-record three players earn All-Region honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), as announced on Thursday.

Senior Sarah Reilly (Fairfield, Conn. / Fairfield-Warde) concluded her decorated career by becoming the first Hound in over a decade to earn First-Team All-Region honors. Meghan Cushing (Gorham, Maine / Gorham) was a second-team selection on defense while Emily Spath (Franklin, Mass. / Franklin) earned second-team honors at attack. This marks the third straight year Assumption has had at least one IWLCA All-Region selection.

Reilly leaves Assumption as most prolific scorer in school history, culminating with a school-record 99 points this year on 73 goals and 26 assists, while also grabbing a school-record 94 draws. The 99 points and 73 goals both currently rank second in the NE10 and are single-season school records. She concluded her career with at least four points in each of her final six games while finishing her career first in school history in both points (273) and assists (82), as well as second in goals (191).

Cushing concluded her career as the winningest player in program history after starting in a school-record 71 games. This year the defender led the team with 41 ground balls while also picking up 42 draw controls and causing 22 turnovers. Cushing also scored 12 goals and dished off eight assists. She leaves as the program's all-time leader in ground balls (180) and caused turnovers (75), while ranking second in draw controls (169). Cushing was also an NE10 Second-Team All-Conference at the conclusion of the regular season.

Spath earned her first All-Region selection following a breakout junior campaign. She started all 19 games, dishing off a school-record 59 assists with 29 goals for 88 points while picking up 23 ground balls and causing 14 turnovers. Spath's 59 assists are second in the NE10 and broke the previous assist record by over 20 assists. During the season she also set the single-game record for points and assists, with 12 points and seven assists in a 21-20 victory over Molloy on the road. Spath was a NE10 Second-Team All-Conference for the first time this year.
