Women’s Lacrosse Ranked 16th Nationally

IWLCA National Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. – Following Assumption's first trip to the NE10 Semifinals in over ten years, the team moved up one spot to 16th in the most recent Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Coaches Poll, released on Monday afternoon.

The Hounds earned their highest IWLCA National Ranking in program history by taking 16th with 224 points. NE10 Runner-Up Le Moyne retained its top spot earning 14 of 25 first place votes and 606 points to just edge Regis, who had 595 points. Adelphi dropped to fourth with 542 points, while NE10 Champion Merrimack jumped to 15th and was joined in the top-20 by New Haven (18), Bentley (T-19) and Pace (T-19).

Last week Assumption earned its first NE10 Quarterfinal victory since 2005 with a 10-9 victory over Bentley. The Hounds trailed 9-8 but used two late goals to secure the win, led by Allie Collins (Natick, Mass. / Natick) who had a career-high 16 saves. Assumption came up short against top seed Le Moyne in the NE10 Semifinals, falling by a 14-6 margin. Sarah Reilly (Fairfield, Conn. / Fairfield-Warde) scored four times in the game to finish the season with a school-record 99 points and conclude her career with a program-record 273 points and 82 assists while ranking second all-time with 191 goals. Assumption 14-5 record to end the year was also the in program history, surpassing the previous mark of 10-8 set back in 2015.
