THE BASICS:

- The Lead: Saint Anselm scored the first two goals of the game and led 4-2 after five minutes of action, but 17th ranked Assumption weathered the storm to grab a two-goal lead at the half and outscored the Hawks 8-1 in the second to earn a 19-10 victory on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Saint Anselm jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first two minutes of the contest, before Olivia Angelo (Miller Place, N.Y. / Miller Place) scored at 27:37. A 2-1 run by the Hawks increased their lead to 4-2 through five minutes. Callie Dwyer (Merrimack, N.H. / Merrimack) cut it to one and Marran Oakman (Kennebunk, Maine / Kennebunk) tallied her first career goal at 21:08 to even the score 4-4. Kailyn Hart (Cohoes, N.Y. / Shaker) pushed the lead to 5-4, though Saint Anselm evened it back up at 17:53.
- Meghan Cushing (Gorham, Maine / Gorham) jumpstarted a three-goal spurt for an 8-5 advantage, before three straight from the Hawks tied it up at eight apiece with 8:14 left in the period. Hart broke the tie with 2:43 left and Assumption outscored Saint Anselm 3-1 the rest of the half for an 11-9 lead.
- Dwyer scored the first goal of the second half at 21:49 and Helen Tautkus (Laconia, N.H. / Laconia) make it 13-10 less than a minute later. The Hawks cut the lead to one, but Jill Good (North Andover, Mass. / North Andover) scored just over 30 seconds later at 19:50, for the 14-10 lead. Dwyer made it 15-10 with 19:21 left and the Hounds scored four more goals over the final 17 minutes of action while shutting out Saint Anselm for the 19-10 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Assumption outshot Saint Anselm 44-24, including a 20-8 edge in the second half. The Hounds also picked up more ground balls (26-21) and had more caused turnovers (19-9). Oakman had four caused turnovers with a school-record 12 draw controls as Assumption had 22 overall.
- Emily Spath (Franklin, Mass. / Franklin) became the 14th player in program history to surpass 100 career points and finished the day with five assists. Dwyer added five goals while Hart had two goals and three assists. Tautkus chipped in three goals and four draw controls.
- Defensively, Grace McDermott (Franklin, Mass. / Franklin) had five caused turnovers and four ground balls, giving her 31 caused turnovers on the day and breaking the single season record of 26 set back in 2013. Cushing had three draws and four GB, pushing her career total to a school-record 169. In net, Allie Collins (Natick, Mass. / Natick) earned the victory as she made 11 saves while giving up ten goals. Bailee Pudvar took the loss as she stopped 13 shots but gave up 17 goals.
