-The Lead: The Assumption College women's golf team took 4th place at the Lady Eagles Invite hosted by Post University (Conn.) on Sunday and Monday. The Hounds finished with a score of 690 while the B team also competed and placed 5th overall (787).
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Senior Catherine French (Dudley, Mass. / Shepherd Hill Regional) led the way for the Hounds as she finished the two-day invitational tied for seventh place overall with Lauren Kase from Le Moyne. After round one on Sunday French was tied for third, shooting a 78 and went on to shoot an 86 on Monday for a final score of 164. Senior Christine Cutting (Scituate, Mass. / Scituate) and junior Samantha Leary (Hingham, Mass. Hingham) tied for 14th place with a score of 174. Leary shot a 91 in round one before dropping eight strokes on day two, to climb four places. Senior Mia Rapoza (Westport, Mass. / Bishop Stang) took 18th place overall as she shot 89's both days for a score of 178.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Le Moyne took first place at the invitational with a team score of 666. The College of St. Rose followed with 671 points for a second place finish and California-PA took third place with a combined score of 689. Assumption took 4th place (690), and the Hounds competed with a B team who finished in fifth place (787). Adelphi finished in last place with a score of 815.
UP NEXT
-The Hounds will be competing in the NE10 Championships on Saturday, October 12 through Monday, October 14. The Championship tournament will be help at Turning Stone Resort in Syracuse, N.Y.
