- The Lead: Assumption received a top-three finish from junior Catherine French (Dudley, Mass. / Shepherd Hill) on the way to a sixth place finish at the Penmen Spring Invitational on Tuesday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- French finish second overall with a 79 to pace the Hounds. Classmate Christine Cutting (Scituate, Mass. / Scituate) shot an 87 to tie for 16th overall while sophomore Samantha Leary (Hingham, Mass. / Hingham) was 21st after shooting an 89.
- Lexie Flood (Southbury, Conn. / Pomperaug) was tied for 36th with a 99 while freshman Carly Romano (Wake Forest, N.C. / Heritage) shot a 103 overall.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Laval University and Merrimack tied for first overall as both teams shot a 328 on the day. Southern New Hampshire placed third with a 338 while Post was fourth with a 344. Adelphi shot a 347 to take fifth. Merrimack's Krystal Knight earned medalist honors by shooting a 73.
