Women's Golf in Seventh After First Day of NE10 Championship

- The Lead: Assumption received a strong performance from junior Catherine French (Dudley, Mass. / Shepherd Hill) and sits in seventh place following the opening round of the NE10 Championship on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- French shot a 5-over 76 to tie for second on the day and sit just three shots back of leader Krystal Knight from Merrimack. Classmate Christine Cutting (Scituate, Mass. / Scituate) had the second-lowest score on the day for Assumption, placing 30th with a 91.

Mia Rapoza (Westport, Mass. / Bishop Stang) was one stroke behind Cutting with a 92, while sophomore Samantha Leary (Hingham, Mass. / Hingham) posted a 95. Freshman Carly Romano (Wake Forest, N.C. / Heritage) rounded out the team's performance with a 97.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Merrimack shot a 317 and has three-shot lead over Franklin Pierce (320) while Southern New Hampshire is in third with a 328. The Hounds had a 354 and sit just behind Stonehill (352) and Saint Rose (351).
