Women’s Golf Takes Fifth in Granite State Invitational

THE BASICS:

- Tournament: Granite State Invitational

- Results: 5th of 8 teams | 344 + 328 = 672

- Date: October 1-2, 2018

- Location: Nashua Country Club (Nashua, N.H.)

- The Lead: Assumption lowered its total team score by 16 strokes to move up two places on the final day of the Granite State Invitational and take fifth in its final competition before the NE10 Championships.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Junior Catherine French (Dudley, Mass. / Shepherd Hill) cut 10 strokes from her opening day total of 83 with a 73 to finish with a two-day total of 156. The total was tied for fifth in the competition. Classmate Christine Cutting (Scituate, Mass. / Scituate) shot a 167 overall (82, 85) to tie for 21st in the competition.

- Mia Rapoza (Westport, Mass. / Bishop Stang) put forth a strong second-day, lowering her score by two shots for a 172 overall (87, 85). Samantha Leary (Hingham, Mass. / Hingham) came through with a 177 (92, 85) while Carly Romano (Wake Forest, N.C. / Heritage) rounded out the top five with a 188 (94, 94).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Franklin Pierce won the event with a 621 overall, three shots ahead of Merrimack. Southern New Hampshire took third while Post was fourth with a 659, in front of the Hounds who had a 672. Le Moyne was in sixth with a 679.

UP NEXT:

- The Hounds return to action on Oct. 14 when the take part in the NE10 Championships.
