Liam Hillery enters his second year as the men’s and women’s distance coach in 2018.

In his first year, both men's and women's cross country had impressive seasons. The woman reached the NCAA DII Championships for the second straight year after capturing the program's first NCAA East Region Title. A school-record five runners were named All-Region as four runners finished in the top-ten. Three runners were also named All-Conference as Assumption finished second in the NE10 Championship for the second straight year. On the men's side, Assumption took 10th in the NE10 Championship, but improved to 9th in the NCAA Regionals - its best finish in over ten years.

A native of Smithfield, RI, Liam competed for Providence College's cross country and track and field program from 2011 to 2016. As a two-year captain, he helped the Friars to 16th and 13th place finishes at the NCAA D1 National Cross Country Championships. On the track, Liam won the 2016 Penn Relays 10,000 meters, running a PR of 29:22. He holds a PR of 14:07 in the 5,000 meters.
