William Foley begins his fourth season with Assumption College men’s and women’s track and field program as an assistant coach in the 2016-2017 season and works with the Greyhound's field and multi-event athletes.

Prior to Assumption, Foley spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach at UMass Boston, where Foley has coached multiple athletes to school records and post season appearances.

Foley has spent over 14 years competing as a thrower at the high school, collegiate, and post-collegiate levels. As a collegiate athlete, Foley competed for the University of Hartford and competed in a number of championship meets in the weight and hammer throw for both the indoor and outdoor campaigns in 2008 and 2009.

Since his time at Hartford, Foley currently competes as a member of the Greater Boston Track Club. His extensive knowledge and success in the sport has given him opportunities to attend multiple national and international events including the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials, 2012 Olympic Games in London and 2013 USATF/USOC Emerging Elite Coaches Conference.

The West Bridgewater, Mass. native also played men’s rugby at Hartford and is currently a social studies teacher at Xaverian Brother High School in Westwood, Mass. Foley graduated from UMass Boston with his Masters of Education in 2012 and from Hartford with his B.A. in history and criminal sustice in 2009. Coach Foley has also completed the Level 1 certification for USA Track and Field.
