Men's Track & Field Competes at Coaches Tribute Meet

THE BASICS

-Meet: Coaches Tribute Meet

-Location: University of Rhode Island

-The Lead: The Assumption College men's track and field team had a great showing at the Coaches Tribute Meet at the University of Rhode Island on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

-Senior William Mardo (Cumberland, R.I. / Cumberland) earned 7th place overall in the men's 1000 Meter finals with a time of 2:34.19.

-Junior Brendan Carter (North Reading, Mass. / North Reading) placed 4th in the 3000 Meter race with a final time of 8:53.27. First year Claudio Rocha (Peabody, Mass. / Peabody Veterans Memorial) followed in 7th place with a time of 8:56.38.

-First year George Dixon IV (East Bridgewater, Mass. / East Bridgewater), Anthony Spignese (Danvers, Mass. / Danvers), Shermar Scott (Dorchester, Mass. / Needham), and Mardo teamed up in the men's 4X400 Relay and took home 2nd place with a time of 3:28.55.

-Senior Kevin Hack (Uxbridge, Mass. / Nipmuc Regional) earned 3rd place in the men's High Jump finals with a 1.96 meter mark.

-Senior William Bennett (Tewksbury, Mass. / Tewksbury Memorial) took home 3rd place in the Shot Put finals with a 14.17 meter mark.

-First year Dante Echeandia (North Kingstown, R.I. / North Kingstown) led Assumption in the 200 Meter race with a time of 23.87 seconds for 14th place overall.

-Dixon IV earned 12th place in the 400 Meter finals in a time of 53.51 seconds.

-Sophomore Nik Reygadas (Warwick, R.I. / Toll Gate) finished in 13th place in the 800 Meter race with a final time of 2:02.21.

UP NEXT

-Assumption is back in action on Friday, February 14th and Saturday, February 15th when they travel to Boston University for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
