Meet: Brandeis Reggie Poyau Invitational
Location: Gosman Sports Center (Waltham, Mass.)
The Lead: Assumption had eight different student-athletes place in the top five of their events at the Reggie Poyau Invitational hosted by Brandeis University on Saturday. Freshman Anthony Spignese (Danvers, Mass. / Danvers) broke the Assumption record in the 60m as he took first place in 6.91 seconds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Spignese also earned first place in the 200m (22.13).
-Freshman George Dixon IV (East Bridgewater, Mass. / East Bridgewater) took second in the 400m with a time of 52.46 seconds. His classmates Ryan Kenny (Manchester, N.H. / Manchester Memorial) (53.99) and Shermar Scott (Dorchester, Mass. / Needham) (54.01) took sixth and seventh places respectively in the same event.
-Senior William Mardo (Cumberland, R.I. / Cumberland) finished second in the men's mile with a time of 4:36.46 followed by junior Brendan Carter (North Reading, Mass. / North Reading) in third place in 4:26.87.
-Junior Joseph Santos (Warwick, R.I. / Bishop Hendricken) took second place in the 60 hurdles in 8.34.
-Dixon earned fourth place in the long jump finals at 6.22m and sophomore Samuel Baker (Bedford, Mass. / Shawsheen Tech) finished in fifth at 6.18m. Baker also earned third place in the triple jump at 12.90m.
-Senior William Bennett (Tewksbury, Mass. / Tewksbury Memorial) took fourth place in the shot put finals at 13.74m.
-Junior Cameron Donoghue (Yarmouth Port, Mass. / Barnstable) finished third in the men's heptathlon with a score of 4175.

-Assumption competes at the Sorlein Invitational at the University of Rhode Island on Saturday, January 18th.
