THE BASICS:

- The Lead: The Assumption men's track & field team had a number of strong performances this past weekend at the Black & Gold Invitational.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Sophomore Everett Pirtle (Northborough, Mass. / Algonquin) came through with a fourth place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 49.40 seconds. He also placed 11th in the 200 meters with a time of 23.12 seconds.
- Junior Max Michaud (Northboro, Mass. / Algonquin) won the 800 meters, winning the event by over a second with a time of 1:53.91 meters.
- In the 5000 meters, sophomore Shawn Scullion (Candiac, Que. / Heritage Regional) took sixth in 15:50.61 while Ryan Cardozo (Westport, Mass. / Bishop Stang) came through in ninth with a time of 15:59.87. Ryan Mardo (Cumberland, R.I. / Cumberland) was 12th in 16:09.58.
- Sophomore Joseph Santos (Warwick, R.I. / Bishop Hendricken) earned a fifth place finish with a time of 15.55 seconds while Kevin Hack (Uxbridge, Mass. / Nipmuc) came in 11th in 16.42 seconds.
- Freshman Samuel Baker (Bedford, Mass. / Shawsheen Tech) earned a third place finish in the triple jump, reaching a distance of 12.71 meters.
- Senior John Plisko (Moosic, Pa. / Riverside) took fourth in the javelin with a distance of 56.68 meter. In the shot put, Dillon Bruso (Auburn, Mass. / Auburn) took seventh with a distance of 13.75 meters while William Bennet (Tewksbury, Mass. / Tewksbury) placed ninth with a throw of 13.41 meters.
