Men's Track and Field Wraps Up Season at New England's

THE BASICS:

- The Lead: Led by an eighth-place finish in the hammer throw by sophomore Alex Cerbo (Cranston, R.I./Bishop Hendricken), the Assumption College men's track and field completed the 2016 season at the New England Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Southern Connecticut State University. The Hounds finished in a tie for 35th overall as a team with one point.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- On Friday in the hammer, Cerbo finished eighth overall and third amongst Division II competitors as he posted a throw of 170 feet. He followed that with a 19th-place finish in the shot put on Saturday as he threw 45 feet, five inches to place fifth amongst Division II throwers.

- Other Friday competition included the trio of graduate student Eddy Frazier (Worcester, Mass./Burncoat), junior Darnell Butler (Hudson, Mass./Hudson) and sophomore Luares Tavares (Taunton, Mass./Taunton) competing in the 100 meters. Frazier finished 18th in 11.10, followed by Butler in 21st at 11.12 and Tavares placing 28th in 11.19. Tavares also competed in the 200 meters as he posted a 21st-place finish in a time of 22.52 seconds.

- Frazier and Tavares were in action in the triple jump as well on Saturday as Frazier placed 11th at 46 feet, 3.5 inches and Tavares finished 15th in 45 feet, 6.5 inches. Frazier was the fifth Division II finisher in the event.

- In the javelin, freshman John Plisko (Moosic, Pa./Riverside) placed 23rd overall and fifth amongst Division II competition as he posted a throw of 139 feet, five inches.

- On Saturday, sophomore Jeremy Alley-Tarter (Oak Bluffs, Mass./Martha's Vineyard) ran a time of 2:01.72 in the 800 meters, while the 4x100 meter relay team finished second in their heat and ninth overall with a time of 42.45 seconds.
