Worcester, Mass. (July 15) -- The Assumption College cross country/track and field programs have announced the incoming class for the 2016-2017 season. The Hounds, who set indoor and outdoor records in 51 events last season, will again be under the direction of fourth-year head coach Stacie Wentz.
Providence, R.I. (June 10) -- Assumption College has finished sixth out of 15 institutions in the 2016 Northeast-10 Conference President’s Cup standings, which were announced on Monday night in Providence, R.I. at the league’s annual Awards Night ceremony at the Providence Hilton.
New Orleans, La. (May 18) -- Six members of the Assumption College men’s and women’s track and field teams have earned United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honors for their performances during the 2016 outdoor season.
Led by an eighth-place finish in the hammer throw by sophomore Alex Cerbo (Cranston, R.I./Bishop Hendricken), the Assumption College men’s track and field completed the 2016 season at the New England Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Southern Connecticut State University. The Hounds finished in a tie for 35th overall as a team with one point.
Worcester, Mass. (May 13) -- The Assumption College Department of Athletics recently held the First “Houndies” Student-Athlete Awards Night, honoring the top student-athletes and accomplishments from the 2015-2016 athletic season. The event was held in Laska Gym with nearly 700 student-athletes and special guests in attendance and featured women’s basketball head coach Kerry Phayre and football head coach Bob Chesney as emcees for the evening.
Setting three school records over the two-day Northeast-10 Outdoor Track and Field Championship, the Assumption College men’s track and field team finished 10th out of 11 teams with a total of 25 points.
At the Skyhawk Invitational on Saturday at Stonehill College, the Assumption College men’s track and field team set four school records and finished third out of 10 schools with a total of 152 points. The Hounds defeated Division I opponents Bryant, Boston University, Harvard and Boston College in the meet.
Sophomore Jeremy Alley-Tarter (Oak Bluffs, Mass./Martha’s Vineyard) broke a 41-year old school record in the 800 meters to lead the Assumption College men’s track and field team at the Sean Collier Invitational on Saturday at MIT.
At the Silfen Invitational on Saturday, the Assumption College men’s track and field team placed 14th out of 17 teams in the meet that was hosted by Connecticut College. The Hounds posted a total of 21 points for the meet.

Worcester, Mass. (April 8) -- The Assumption College Department of Athletics held its Fourth Annual Academic Excellence Breakfast event on Friday morning at the Atrium in the Testa Science Center.
Worcester, Mass. (April 6) -- The Assumption College Department of Athletics has signed a three-year contract extension with Kangaroo Crossing as the department’s official Nike apparel and equipment supplier, as announced by Nick Smith, director of athletics.
At the Jim Sheehan Memorial on Saturday, the Assumption College men’s track and field team captured the overall team title with a one-point win over Fitchburg State University. The Hounds posted 169 points to defeat the Falcons by the slim one-point margin as the team captured six first-place finishes and set two school records on the day.
At the Bears Invitational on Saturday, sophomore Luares Tavares (Taunton, Mass./Taunton) broke the program’s triple jump record for the second straight meet and the Assumption College men’s track and field program posted 16 top-10 finishes and won two events.
Mansfield, Mass. (March 21) -- The Assumption College track and field teams have had three student-athletes honored by the Northeast-10 Conference for their performance at the Coach O Coastal Carolina Invitational, which opened the outdoor schedule for the Hounds.
In the season-opening outdoor meet hosted by Coastal Carolina University, the Assumption College men’s track and field team set two school records as the Hounds had a successful opening weekend.

At the 2016 New England Championships at Boston University this weekend, the Assumption College men’s and women’s track and field programs set six school records and scored in both the men’s and women’s team competitions. Under third-year head coach Stacie Wentz, the Hounds set school records in 31 events that were broken 51 times throughout the 2015-2016 indoor season.
At the Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship, the Assumption College men’s track and field team placed 10 at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass. (February 16) -- Women’s basketball junior Allison Stoddard (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) and men’s track and field sophomore Derek Field (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) have been named as the Assumption College Athletes of the Week for their performances in the week ending February 14th.
At the Gordon Kelly Invitational at MIT and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University on Saturday, the Assumption College men’s track and field team set three school records in another successful weekend for the Hounds.
Mansfield, Mass. (February 11) -- The Northeast-10 Conference has released its Fall 2015 Commissioner’s Honor Roll and for the fall semester, 276 Assumption College student-athletes earned a spot on the honor roll for posting a grade point average (GPA) of a 3.0 or higher. Overall, 3,663 NE-10 student-athletes achieved a 3.0 or higher, which is a new conference mark and an improvement of over 200 from last fall.

At the Dartmouth Classic on Saturday afternoon, the Assumption College men’s track and field team continued its outstanding indoor season as the Hounds toppled four school records on the day.

(February 3) -- Women’s track and field freshman Abby Jones (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) and men’s track and field sophomore Alex Cerbo (Cranston, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) have been named as the Assumption College Athletes of the Week for their performances in the week ending January 31st. The two student-athletes combined to set three schools records over the weekend.
In the most successful weekend in the program’s history, the Assumption College men’s track and field team set six school records as the Hounds competed at the John Thomas Invitational at BU and the University of Southern Maine Invitational. As a team at Southern Maine, the Hounds placed third out of eight teams with a total of 78 points. For the season, the Assumption men have now set 10 indoor school records under third-year head coach Stacie Wentz.
