Women’s Swimming & Diving Sweeps NE10 Weekly Awards

WORCESTER, Mass. – Following an impressive weekend at the Gompei Invitational, women's swimming & diving won all three swimming awards, as Abbey Holmes (Laurel, Md./Archbishop Spalding) was selected as Swimmer of the Week, Brianna Buckle (Garden Grove, Calif./Mater Dei High School) was honored as Rookie of the Week and the 400 free relay was selected as Relay of the Week.

Holmes had four strong individual performances last weekend, as she earned third in the 100 free (53.21), second in the 100 IM (58.24), fourth in the 50 free (23.98) and fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.84). Holmes also contributed to multiple top ten finishes in relays over the weekend that included a third place finish in the 200 free relay (1:36.29), a seventh place finish in the 800 free relay (7:58.15), a fourth place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:47.62), a fourth place finish in the 400 medley relay (3:55.62) and a second place finish in the 400 free relay (3:31.84). She currently holds the top time in the conference for the 50 free (23.86) and the 100 free (53.21) while also holding the second highest time in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.84).

Buckle had two top-two finishes last weekend, taking second in the 100 butterfly (58.01) and first in the 50 butterfly (27.39) while also contributing to a fourth place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:47.62) and a fourth place finish in the 400 medley relay (3:55.62). Her 100 butterfly (58.01) time is the top mark in the conference while her 200 butterfly (2:12.42) is the sixth best.

Finally, the 400 free relay, consisting of Holmes, Anne Guadalupi (Augusta, Maine/Cony), Morgan Nicholls (East London, South Africa/Clarendon) and Emma Magna (Niantic, Conn./East Lyme) placed second in the free relay with a new school record of 3:31.84. The relay is currently the 18th fastest in the nation.

In addition to these awards, Guadalupi and Colleen Kurtz (Somerset, N.J./Rutgers Preparatory) were both named to the weekly honor roll. To view the complete list of winners, click here.
