Swimming and Diving Sits at Second After Second Day of Harold Anderson Invitational

THE BASICS:

- Event: Harold Anderson Invitational

- Results: 2nd

- Location: Kingston, R.I.

- The Lead: Assumption women's swimming and diving was led by Anne Guadalupi (Augusta, Maine/Cony), with the only individual first place of the first two days, as the Hounds swam to a second place standing at the end of day two of the Harold Anderson Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Guadalupi earned first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.40 while also contributing to a fourth place finish in the 800 free relay (7:52.31) and a tied first place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:46.78) with URI. The 800 free relay team was also composed of Payton Horton (Port Elizabeth, South Africa/St. Dominic's), Shannon Quirk (Wakefield, Mass./Wakefield Memorial) and Morgan Nicholls (East London, South Africa/Clarendon) while the 200 medley relay included Isabelle Roberts (Nantucket, Mass./Nantucket), Brianna Buckle (Garden Grove, Calif./Mater Dei High School) and Abbey Holmes (Laurel, Md./Archbishop Spalding).

- Roberts added a fourth place finish in the 200 IM (2:11.20) while Buckle earned a third place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.35. Colleen Kurtz (Somerset, N.J./Rutgers Preparatory) earned second in the 500 free (5:08.37), Nicholls also earned fourth in the 400 IM (4:36.48) and Quirk earned second in the 1650 free (17:36.50).

- Holmes had a great weekend with a second place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.50), fifth in the 100 free (53.47), contributed to the 200 medley relay first place tie, and helped lead the 200 free relay team to a third place finish with a time of 1:37.37. The rest of the relay team consisted of Sydney Rangulong (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury), Emma Magna (Niantic, Conn./East Lyme), and Natalia Kaczor (Chicopee, Mass./Chicopee).

BEHIND THE RESULTS:

- The 200 free relay team set a new school record this weekend with a time of 1:37.37, which beat the previous record set in February of 2017 at 1:37.49.

- The Hounds currently have a combined team score of 440.0 points to put them at second behind URI with 505.5 and ahead of Providence with 370.5. Holy Cross is in fourth currently with 354.0 followed by Bryant in fifth (278.8) and Maine University of Orono in sixth (233.0).

- The Hounds are back in the pool tomorrow, Sunday, November 18, to end the three-day Harold Anderson Invitational.
