THE BASICS:

- The Lead: The Assumption College softball team was unable to get their offense going as Southern New Hampshire shut out the Hounds to win 9-0 in the first game of the weekend series.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Southern New Hampshire got on the board first as Erin Garczynski and Jordan Wade each tallied an RBI in the top of the first inning to take the 2-0 lead.
- In the fourth, the Merrimack offense opened the flood gates as they tallied seven runs. Sarah Lavallee hit a three run home run and then Jordan Wade, Shay Sauvageau, and Katie Horiuchi each had a RBI.
- In the bottom of the fifth inning the Hounds had two runners in scoring position as junior Julia Mazzeo (Milford, N.H./ Milford) advanced Nicole Duplease (Leominster, Mass. /Leominster) and Kayla Peabody (Mendon, Mass./ Nipmuc Regional High School), but the Penmen ended the game 9-0 as they retired the next two Assumption batters.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Senior pitcher Kendal Roy (Grafton, Mass./ Grafton) pitched five innings allowing 10 hits. Stephanie Menard (Cranston, R.I./Cranston), Alyssa Beaton (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield), and Peabody each had a hit in the contest

- The Hounds are back tomorrow as they host Southern New Hampshire in a doubleheader starting Saturday, April 28th, at 12:00pm.
