Jasir Charris begins his third season as an assistant coach with the Assumption men’s soccer program as a goalkeeper coach.

In addition to his position at Assumption, Charris is in his fifth season as a coach for the Revolution Academy, having joined the Player Development Prgram staff in 2010. In addition to serving as a staff coach for the Player Development programs, Charris is one of the goalkeeper coaches for the New England Revolution’s youth teams. He also works as the head of scouting for the Academy teams, a position he has held since 2013.

Charris also serves as a liaison for first-team head coach Jay Heaps, specifically working with the team’s Hispanic players, as well as assisting with the team’s goalkeepers in training.

A lead coach with the Regional Development School (RDS) goalkeeper program, Charris heads all of the goalkeeper clinics and development sessions throughout the year for the Revolution Academy’s commercial training program. Charris is also the goalkeeper coach for the Revolution’s PDL affiliate team, the Boston Rams.

Prior to joining the Revolution, Charris coached at all levels of youth, high school and club soccer, including stints with Explosion FC, Central Falls (R.I.) High School and Fitchburg State College.

Charris was trained at the Toto Rubio Soccer School in Colombia, as well as with Colombia National Team goalkeeper coach, Pedro Antonio Zape. He played professionally in Colombia with a number of clubs, including Toto Rubio, Real Barranquilla, Junior De Barranquilla, Deportivo Medellin and Deporbello Futbol Club.

Charris holds NSCAA Regional “C” and NSCAA National Goalkeeper diploma, and was certified by R.C.D. ESPANYOL OF BARCELONA S.A.D. He also received a certification of technical and tactical education from Real Madrid.

Charris and his wife, Paola Salgado, have two sons, Kian and Yerek, and live in Pawtucket, R.I.
