Men's Soccer Travels to No. 4 Le Moyne in NE10 Playoffs Opening Round

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption men's soccer team has earned the fifth-seed on the Northeast-10 Conference playoff tournament and will travel to face No. 4 Le Moyne in the opening round on Saturday, November 1, at 1 p.m. The Hounds have qualified for the tournament as the fifth-seed in back-to-back years and for the second time in as many seasons under head coach Chris Payne. LAST TIME OUT

The Hounds qualified for the postseason last year as the fifth-seed, taking on Merrimack in the opening round. The Hounds and Dolphins last faced-off on October 12, a 3-1 win for Le Moyne. Pablo Fernandez, Goran Naric and Robert Rohrhirsch each had a goal and an assist for Le Moyne, while Jamison Magowan (Pawcatuck, Conn. / Stonington) scored the Hounds' lone goal.

SCOUTING THE HOUNDS

Jason Lages (Edgartown, Mass. / Martha's Vineyard Regional) has provided a consistent offensive attack for the Hounds, while Kevin Hernandez (San Juan, P.R. / Colegio San Jose) and Jeremy Martin (Hopedale, Mass. / Hopedale) have proven themselves as offensive threats. Lages, who has a team-high 10 goals, has tallied four goals and one assist in his last three games. He has scored at least one goal in nine-out-of-13 games he has played in, while adding at least one point in six of his first seven games. Hernandez has scored five goals this season and Martin three goals and four assists.

SCOUTING THE DOLPHINS

Rohrhirsch leads the team with nine goals and five assists. He began his season tallying six goals and three assists in his first six games, but has not added any points in his last four contests. Naric has scored seven goals and four assists, while Brandon Mimas has tallied two goals and two assists in his last two games. Josh Mahr has provided a steady presence in net for the Dolphins, playing to a 10-5-1 record and a 1.34 goals against average and .720 save percentage in 17 games.
