Both Men's and Women's Soccer Ranked in Opening United States Coaches Regional Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. – The United Soccer Coaches organization has ranked the Assumption men's and women's soccer teams in the first regional rankings poll of the 2019 season for each sport. The women's team earned eighth in the latest poll, while the men's team earned 10th.

The women's soccer team defeated Bloomfield 3-0 in the team's first game of the season. Three different players scored on 25 total shots during that game, while three goalkeepers combined for the shut out. The ranking also comes after Alexis Stowell (Franklin, Mass. / Franklin) earned Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Week.

The men's soccer team finished 1-1 in its first week of the 2019 season, defeating Caldwell 4-2 in its latest game. Three different players scored in that game, while Caldwell allowed one own goal. Jason Lages (Edgartown, Mass. / Martha's Vineyard Regional) scored one goal in that game and led the team with seven shots.

Southern N.H. earned the first place in the women's poll after going 2-0 in their first week of action. Adelphi earned the top spot on the men's side after going 1-0 in their first week of action.
