Men's Soccer Has Five Earn NE10 All-Conference Honors

WORCESTER, Mass. – FOllowing an impressive season, Assumption had five players earn All-Conference honors, as announced by the NE10 on Wednesday. Junior Jason Lages (Edgartown, Mass./Martha's Vineyard) was named to the NE10 All-Conference Second Team along with sophomore Nicolas Cardona (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Academia del Perpetuo Socorro), while freshmen Ruben Faria (Fall River, Mass./Bishop Connolly High School), Sebastian Jimenez (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast High School) and Connor Willis (North Andover, Mass./North Andover) were named to the NE10 All-Conference All-Rookie Team.

Lages finished the year with a team-high 20 points on nine goals and two assists while appearing in eleven games during the year. He recorded three multi-goal games, against Saint Michael's, Saint Rose and Saint Anselm recording two apiece. This marks the third straight year Lages has earned Second-Team All-Conference honors.

Cardona ended his sophomore season with one one assist while anchoring the defense and playing in 15 games over the course of the year. He helped the team post its lowest GAA in over five years and was key in helping the team earn its best record since 2009.

Faria ended his first collegiate season with thirteen conference starts along with one game-winning goal and one assist. His game-winning goal was against Bentley where he gathered a loose ball and launched a shot from center field at the 89:40 mark to give the Hounds the win.

Jimenez earned three NE10 Rookie of the Week honors and one Goalkeeper of the Week honor throughout his freshman debut. He has started in all thirteen conference games for a total of 1238:04 minutes played. Jimenez has one conference shutout with a save percentage of .800.

Willis had an outstanding freshman year with four goals and an assist for a total of nine points in conference play. He appeared in twelve games with two conference starts. His only game-winning goal of the season came against Stonehill where he charged the net to give the Hounds the 2-1 lead and the victory.

This year Alex Satrustegui of SNHU was named NE10 Player of the Year while Paolo Marciano of Adelphi and Niklas Breunung of Le Moyne earned Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. To view the complete list of honorees, click here.
