Assumption Men's Soccer earns 1-0 win over Holy Family

-The Lead: Junior Alex Moschella (Miller Place, N.Y. / Miller Place) scored the game's lone goal at the 42:03 mark to lift the Greyhounds, 1-0, over the Holy Family Tigers and improve 2-0-0 in their home opener on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-Moschella scored his first goal of the season at the 42:03 mark to put the Greyhounds up 1-0. The junior took a free kick 30 yards out and sent it into the box, where it deflected off a defender's head and into the back of the net for his first career goal.

-The Tigers pressured with five shots on net, but freshman Sebastian Jimenez (Naples, Fla. / Gulf Coast High School) turned aside all five, including two shots within the final five minutes.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-Assumption held a 19-9 shot advantage though teams had three corner kicks. Moschella scored his first goal of the season, while Chase Gurcan (Fort Salonga, N.Y. / St. Anthony's) led the Greyhounds with four shots.

-The Greyhounds start their season with back-to-back shutouts, defeating Post 1-0 in the team's season opener.

- Jimenez made five saves and improved to 2-0-0 on the year. Holy Family's Mark Tobin made four saves and fell to 0-2-0 on the year.
