Men's Soccer Falls to New Haven, 2-1

Worcester, Mass. (October 18) -- The Assumption men's soccer team fell to University of New Haven, 2-1, in steady rain on Wednesday night.

The Chargers started the scoring on a bad bounce that ended in an own goal to take a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute. That lead stood until the 60th minute, when Dave Ljunquist scored on a goal assisted by Gui Dos Santos and Edwin Carvajal, to take a 2-0 lead.

The Hounds cut the lead to one when Tom Carroll (Belford, N.J./Middletown North) found the back of the net on a penalty kick in the 73rd minute.

The Hounds fall to 2-8-1 with the loss and 2-7-1 in the conference while New Haven improves to 4-7-2 overall and 3-6-1 in the Northeast-10.

Assumption will play its next game on Saturday October 22nd, when the team travels to Rindge, N.H. to take on Franklin Pierce. The first kick will be at 7 p.m.
