Two Unanswered Third Period Goals Pushes Men's Ice Hockey Past Post

THE BASICS: 

-Score: Assumption 3, Post 2

-Records: Assumption (10-7-4, 7-3-2 NE10), Post (4-14-1, 1-11-0 NE10)

-Location: Worcester, Mass. (Buffone Arena)

-The Lead: Assumption scored two unanswered goals in the second half of the third period and the Greyhounds defeated the Post Eagles 3-2 on Friday night to push their undefeated streak to nine game.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-Robert Holyoke (Middleboro, Mass. / South Shore Kings (USPHL Premier)) scored the game-winner at the 15:41 mark for his second goal of the game. He initially put the Hounds up 1-0 at the 12:37 mark of the first period.

-Holyoke's goal was the second of two unanswered goals for the Hounds. Dante Maribitio (Georgetown, Mass. / Phillips Academy (Prep)), who also assisted Holyoke's game-winner, scored at the 11:28 mark of the third while on the power play, knotting the game up at two.

-Post had scored two unanswered goals across two period prior to Assumption's comeback. Niko Grollman scored at the 17:25 mark of the second to tie the game at one. Tyler Hackett then put his team up 2-1 at the 9:46 mark of the third.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-Assumption outshot the Eagles 37-27. Post went 2-for-9 while on the power play and Assumption went 1-for-4.

-Holyoke, who had led the Hounds in points going into Friday's game, pushed his point streak to 12 in his last eight games. He also tied his previous high of 12 goals on the year with his two against the Eagles and surpassed his previous career-high 17 points, now tallying 19 on the year.

-Maribito's goal and assist also gives him a new career-high in points, tallying 15 on the year. Michael Zampanti's (Winthrop, Mass. / Islanders Hockey Club (USPHL Premier)) two assists gives him nine points in his last five games.

-David Zulauf (Rochester, Mich. / Bridgton Academy (Prep)) made 25 saves on 27 shots and improved to 4-4-1 on the year. He has won four out of his last five contests and is undefeated in that span, playing to a 4-0-1 record in those games. Brandon Brown made 34 saves on 37 shots but fell to 3-7-1.
