Holyoke, Smith Lead Men's Ice Hockey in Tie with UMass Dartmouth

THE BASICS:

-Records: Assumption (4-7-2, 3-3-0 NE10), UMass Dartmouth (2-8-2, 2-3-1 MASCAC)

-The Lead: Robert Holyoke (Middleboro, Mass. / South Shore Kings (USPHL Premier)) scored twice, William Smith (Hyde Park, Mass. / Williston Northampton School) added two assists and the Assumption Greyhounds played to a 2-2 tie with the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-Holyoke scored the first goal of the game at the 16:42 mark of the first period. Smith possessed the puck and sent it out to Devan Sheth (Ashland, Mass. / Islanders Hockey Club (USPHL Premier)). Sheth then took it and dished the puck to Holyoke, who found the back of the net for his fifth goal on the season at the time of the score.

-Holyoke added his second goal of the game and sixth on the year at the 18:01 mark of the second period, assisted again by Smith, but this time putting the Hounds up 2-0. The Corsairs Kai Kapossy scored at the 18:33 mark of the second to end the period with Assumption up 2-1.

-Dillon Radin tied the game at two at the 19:34 mark of the third. The Hounds got the only shot off in overtime, but it was turned away.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-The Hounds outshot UMass Dartmouth 35-22, which included 16 shots in the second period. Neither team had a penalty in 65 minutes of play.

-Holyoke's two goals marked the first time this season he has scored twice in one game, but the third time in his collegiate career. After leading the team with 12 goals last season, Holyoke now shares a team-high six goals so far this season.

-Smith's two assists marked the third time this season he tallied two points in one game. He added a goal and an assist against Worcester St. on November 23 and then did so again against Southern N.H. on December 7.

-Drew Benedict (Cooper City, Fla. / Charlotte Rush (USPHL)) made his second start of the year and turned away 20 pucks on 22 shots, moving to 0-0-1. Daniel Davidson made 33 saves on 35 shots and moved to 0-3-2 on the year.
