- The lead: After playing close through one, the Assumption Greyhounds broke free with a four-goal second period in an eventual 6-2 win against NE10 conference foe Stonehill on Friday night at the Foxboro Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-After the two teams played to a 1-1 tie through the first period and proceeded to trade scores to begin the second period, John Chamberlain (Amesbury, Mass. / Williston Northampton School) scored with 8:38 left in the second to put the Hounds up for good at 3-2. His goal sparked a flurry of activity from the Hounds, which ended in a 5-2 lead by the end of the second. Ryan Loranger (Billerica, Mass. / Middlesex Black Bears (Prep)) gave Assumption a two-goal lead with 7:08 left in the period on a play that saw three Hounds take a stab at the puck and Loranger connecting with the back of the net on the third attempt.

-Devan Sheth (Ashland, Mass. / Islanders Hockey Club (USPHL Premier)) topped off the four-goal second period at the 15:49 mark. With the Hounds on the penalty kill, Sheth tracked a loose puck down the left side of the ice. When he gained possession, Sheth used his speed to get past the defender. With space, he skated through the crease and flipped one past Skyhawks goalie Billy Palmer to give Assumption the 5-2 lead.

-Matt Damelio (Rochester, N.Y. / Northwood (Prep)) added the last goal with 1:36 left in the third period when he scored on an empty net to give the Hounds a 6-2 lead.

-The Skyhawks got on the board first at the 8:54 mark of the first period. Michael Seibold took a pass from teammate Mike Seoane and got a shot just underneath the glove of Assumption goalie David Zulauf (Rochester, Mich. / Bridgton Academy (Prep)). However, the Hounds tied it up by the end of the first period. With 2:23 left in the first, Zulauf made a spectacular diving save, which allowed Robert Holyoke (Middleboro, Mass. / South Shore Kings (USPHL Premier)) to gain the defensive rebound and take the puck the length of the ice. He then placed a nice backhanded shot on net and got the puck past Palmer for his 11th goal of the season.
