- The lead: Needing a win to regain possession of first-place, and after having their go-ahead goal with 3:49 left in regulation waved off by the officials, the Assumption Greyhounds came away with just one point and remained in second place within the Northeast-10 Conference after playing to a 4-4 tie with first-place Southern N.H. on Tuesday night at the Ice Den.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-The Hounds scored the go-ahead goal with 3:49 left in regulation after several players tipped a puck heading toward the net. However, after the puck found the back of the net, the officials waved it off, which sent the two teams into overtime tied at four.

-Assumption went on the power play with 1:22 left of overtime thanks to a 10-minute misconduct penalty on Travis Quigley. Unfortunately, the Hounds couldn't place a shot on net the rest of the way and even used a terrific save by goalie David Zulauf (Rochester, Mich. / Bridgton Academy (Prep)) on a wrap-around shot to finish the game with a 4-4 tie.

-Andy Somerville tied the game at four with 7:35 left in regulation and with his team shorthanded. Somerville intercepted a pass in the offensive zone for the Penmen and took Zulauf on one-on-one, beating him through the five hole. The goal topped off a period that saw the Hounds take a 4-3 lead thanks to a power play goal from Robert Holyoke (Middleboro, Mass. / South Shore Kings (USPHL Premier)) at the 8:22 mark and Joe Fiorino tie the game at three for the Penmen just 3:03 prior to Holyoke's goal.

-Khalil East (Los Angeles, CA / Mira Costa / Worcester State University) put the Hounds up 3-2 with 6:14 left in the second period. As the Hounds moved into the offensive zone, three different players placed shots on net with East finally breaking through on the final attempt for his sixth goal of the season. Southern N.H. had tied the game just three minutes and 42 seconds prior to East's goal, tying the game at the 10:04 mark when Chris Moquin gathered in a rebound shot while out front and moved left-to-right to put his wrister home to tie the game at two.

-Assumption scored two unanswered goals to go up 2-1 heading into the second period. Devan Sheth (Ashland, Mass. / Islanders Hockey Club (USPHL Premier)) scored the first at the 4:50 mark, just 2:45 after Charlie Davis put the Penmen up 1-0, thanks to assists from linemates Matt Damelio (Rocherster, N.Y. / Northwood Prep)) and Holyoke. John McDonagh (Latrobe, Pa. / Shady Side Academy (Prep)) gave Assumption their first lead of the game at the 7:29 mark when he scored unassisted for his second on the season.
