MANSFIELD, Mass. – The 2019 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Golf Championship prepares to begin this weekend at the En-Joie Golf Club in Endicott, N.Y., as Assumption enters the two-day tournament as the favorite by a narrow margin, according to the Pre-Championship Poll released by the league office on Thursday.
The Greyhounds recorded 71 points, including three first-place votes, to take the top spot in the poll. Le Moyne, the host school for the championship, finished closely behind with 69 votes and four first-place tallies – while reigning champion Southern New Hampshire sits third with 65 points and a pair of first-place nods.
The first NE10 Championship of the 2019-20 athletic year begins on Sunday, Oct. 6, and wraps-up on Monday, Oct. 7. Live scoring will be available on both days HERE, while travel information and social media coverage can be found on the NE10 site: Championship Central site.
First round action on Sunday begins at 12:15 p.m., while the final round will have a shotgun start on Monday morning at 9 a.m. The awards ceremony will take place after the final pairing has completed the course.
Assumption seeks its first NE10 Men's Golf title in program history, following a third-place finish in the 2018 Championship. The Greyhounds return their top four scorers from last season's championship, including junior Andrew Sanzaro (tied for seventh in 2018 NE10 Championship).
Franklin Pierce (58 points, one first-place vote) and Bentley (55 points) rounded-out the top five in the poll.
