Men's Golf Ties for Third at Penmen Fall Invitational

THE BASICS

-The Lead: The Assumption College men's gold team tied for third place overall at the Southern New Hampshire University Penmen Fall Invitational. They played two rounds of 18 holes on Monday before finishing out the invitational with a third round of 18 holes on Tuesday afternoon. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

-Junior Andrew Sanzaro (Wethersfield, Conn. / Wethersfield) and senior Mark Bryant (Hardwick, N.J. / North Warren Regional) led the way for the Hounds, tying for ninth place with scores of 220. Sanzaro shot a 75 in rounds one and three and a 70 in round two. Bryant shot a 75 in round one, a team-best 69 in round two, and a 76 in round three. Sanzaro and Bryant finished in a three-way tie with Le Moyne freshman Nicholas Bove.

-Sophomore Lucus Roop (Gorham, Maine / Gorham) rounded out the top three golfers for Assumption with a 223. He shot a 76 in rounds one and three and a 71 in round two.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

-Laval University took first place with a score of 863 followed by Le Moyne in second place with a combined 878. Assumption tied with Southern New Hampshire, shooting an 888 while Franklin Pierce trailed them with an 889 for fifth place overall. 17 teams competed in the invitational.

UP NEXT

-The Hounds will compete at the NE10 Championships on Sunday, October 6th and Monday, October 7th. The match will be held at En-Joie Country Club in Endicott, N.Y.
